Description
A mining car at the Goldfield mine site, near Lost Dutchman State Park, Arizona, sits abandoned. The Lost Dutchman Gold Mine, according to legend, is a very rich gold mine hidden in the southwestern United States. The location is generally believed to be in the Superstition Mountains, near Apache Junction, east of Phoenix, Arizona. The Lost Dutchman is perhaps the most famous lost mine in American history. According to many versions of the tale, the mine is either cursed, or protected by enigmatic guardians who wish to keep the mine's location a secret. There is no way to guess just how many people have died in pursuit of the Lost Dutchman Mine. Some who have disappeared may have just quietly slipped away, unwilling to admit that they failed to find the treasure.... while others may have gone in secretly and never came outtheir names recorded as a missing persons case somewhere. Perhaps the Dutchman dreamed of filling many of these little mining cars with gold!

Great capture. I'm on my way now to try and find the gold. Anyone want to help? Bring a shovel.

Wonderful perspective! Love the angle of the cart on the rails, the use of rail lines pulls you to the cart, then the cart pulls you to the background old shed. How cool!
