Description
The distinctive and entertaining Burma Shave sign ads ended in 1963. The Oklahoma Farm Bureau renewed the idea in 1984, with an ad campaign designed to remind people to be clean without being mean. There were 300 sets of six signs placed along the roadways in Oklahoma. There is one sign missing in this group. The missing sign would have said Come on Okies, before the Take a Stand sign.
Among some of the inspiring rhymes were the one in this image as well as the following.
I raise cows, they eat hay.
Don’t throw trash on the right-of-way.
