Description
Bucyrus-Erie was an American surface and underground mining equipment company. Founded as Bucyrus Foundry and Manufacturing Company in 1880, Bucyrus merged with the Erie Steam Shovel Company to form Bucyrus-Erie in 1927. In 1997, it was purchased by Caterpillar Inc. It was not so much the abandoned equipment that appealed to me, as it was the wildflower holding its own. Find other old equipment artworks in my Pieces of Past Gallery.
A trip off the beaten path on country roads will almost always end with some really cool and classic finds. This was one of those classic finds, on a day when I thought I might be lost. What looked like junk to many passerby, was really utopia to this photographer who didnt pass by!
This print is perfect for the home or business setting available in print, canvas or metal.

What a great composition with the wildflowers in their beauty standing up against the massive machinery!

I love how the flower defiantly grew right in front of its final stop. Kind of in its face... I like how definitive you were taking this shot, cropped tight and precise. sharing

Great title to match the image....love the way most of the image is taken up by the hulking dozer making those wispy flower stalks seem even more outmatched

Terrific composition and processing ~ it looks so hot, dry and dusty... and then those flowers!!! Love that!!!
