Description
The Little Sable Point Light is a lighthouse located south of Pentwater in the lower peninsula of the U.S. state of Michigan. Little Sable Point Lighthouse was built in 1874 and once looked very similar to the Big Sable Point Lighthouse near Ludington. Both towers stood 107 foot tall, both were constructed of brick, and both had a third-order Fresnel lens. The Big Sable Point tower deteriorated and eventually was covered with steel plates, but the tower at Little Sable Point still looks much as it did 120 years ago.
There was quite a hike, up the hills and dunes to get to this point of view. The sand was constantly moving in the wind and the equipment was getting heavy by the time I arrived here. It was so worth the journey!
